Warhammer Online Boasts Half A Million Players

Only one week after launch, Warhammer Online has already seen 500,000 players from North American, European and Oceanic territories join the fantasy MMO, according to publisher Electronic Arts.

EA's announcement dubs Warhammer Online "the fastest-selling new MMO of all time" while reminding us that the game was EA's "most highly pre-ordered PC title."

"We spent years working to provide players with the most stable, epic, and polished online world we could, but it is the players that have truly brought the Age of Reckoning to life," wrote Mark Jacobs, founder of Warhammer Online developer Mythic Entertainment.

Of course, attracting a legion of new players at launch with shiny pictures and pretty gameplay trailers is a much simpler task than maintaining a large player base over the 5+ year lifespan of the average MMO.
